Ok, this is for all you (including myself), who, with a few tips, would feel a little more confident and in control of certain situations.
We all started somewhere .I started with my browser cos that was the first program that knew anything about the net. When I actually did get the net, I wondered why the hell it kept starting with my local ISP. Then I found an option called the 'DEFAULT BROWSER'. This was fascinating, and that was how I started killing my computer.
For all HOTMAIL users. MSN messenger is an ok chat program, but the kewl thing about is you can directly go to your inbox. It instantly tells you when you have a new email message, which is good if you're expecting email.
Problems with connecting to the net? I found that I had a fair few problems too. Don't worry, I've got the answer. It's called the 'duh' fault, and it occurs whenever you forget to actually insert the phone line into the wall socket. This is why cable is so fast. By the time you've figured out where you went wrong, they have successfully dl'd Britannica 2000 in 5 different languages. SO whenever you're going on the net, have a little look. It saves hours and cuts dollars of your phone bill.
Why is my computer freezing? Is question number two after why isn't my internet working? OK, here's a checklist….
1. Got icq? If yes turn it off
2. Got a firewall? If yes, turn that off too.
3. Got an excessive amount of browser windows open? (this is usually 2) If yes, close at least one.
4. Know anything about CPU? If no, find someone who does, if yes, and you have a legitimate answer to why you're reading this, go to 5.
5. Tried buying a new computer? If yes, I'm out of league. If no, go back to 1 cos I'm running out of space.
Ok, by now you would have realised I actually don't have any tips. I just said that to make myself feel better. ;)
